Looking like I can get one without a lense for about 50 bucks. Looks like it is in great condition! Is this a good price? I think Zippy and ttyymmnn have these if I can remember from the photo blog!

These are easily worth about $100 for the body alone, so definitely a Nice price.

Also, if you're looking for lenses, be sure to get one with an EF or EF-S lens mount.

I known there are tons of options for lenses but how much for a decent one? Will only those lenses work with that camera?

Those mounts are fairly common, and the lens is the most expensive part of a camera, I have a 70-200mm Sigma EX telephoto lens worth $800 on my 20D, it is very good for sports and action. On average, a new everyday lens would cost $200-$500, It all depends on what the purpose is. This is a good guide:

Sounds like a good price. Make sure it comes with the battery and charger. Ask the seller to have it charged when you go look at it, so you can turn it on and play around with it and test it out. See if you can get/borrow a lens to check if the autofocus works.

Grab something like this; http://www.amazon.com/Autofocus-Digi…

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It's a good starter lens, and has some accessories. I've seen the lens by itself listed online for as low as $70 used.

Actually talked to my dad and he has some old canon stuff that he said I could have. Awaiting a reply from the seller if I can come look at it. A few lenses also on the local Kijiji for less than 100 bucks. Thanks for the tips! Anyway I can get authorship on the photography kinja?

That would be awesome if you get the old stuff. Most of it will probably work out for you. Pretty much any lens will be good to get started with. No problem. I'm glad to help out.

I'll share your post to Photo Kinja, and hopefully one of the mods will see your comment and add you. I wish I had the power.

Depends on what application you need it for. I have a 50mm f/1.8 that cost me $150 (it's the older version with a metal mount), a 35mm f/2 that cost $300ish, an 80-200mm f/2.8L (another oldie but goodie) which runs for $800-$900 if you can find one, a 300mm f/4L IS USM, $1400, and my baby, an 85mm f/1.2L II USM, running somewhere around $2,000 new.

My personal preference is that unless it's a top-end lens, I'll just buy it used. Keh.com is your best friend in this regard. Primes will be cheaper than zooms at the low end, unless you're looking at really, really old zooms.

For super cheap to start you off, I'd grab a 50mm f/1.8 II ($125) or a 40mm f/2.8 STM ($175ish?). No zoom on those, but they've got fast apertures and force you to think about composure because you can't just zoom in.

I also threw in my $0.02 in the other thread you had going. That being said, the 20D isn't a bad choice for an entry point!

Did you get it? I just picked one up today too. Didn't come with a battery or charger, so I ordered some from Amazon. So I have to wait two weeks to be able to play with it.

I really prefer Kijiji to Craigslist. If only there was more then 5 cameras on Kijiji.

I've rarely even looked at Craigslist. I'm going to guess that's not the exact count, but I get what you mean. My local Kijiji (Oshawa/Durham in the GTA) doesn't have to many interchangeable lens cameras under $200.
